Senior Data Platform Architect
Introduction to role
As a Senior Data Platform Architect at Alexion, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing sophisticated data architecture solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the data platform meets the current and future needs of the organization, supporting a wide range of data-driven initiatives. Your expertise will guide the development of scalable, secure, and efficient data systems that enhance our capabilities in data analytics and business intelligence.
Accountabilities
Architectural Design: Develop and maintain the architecture of Alexion's data platform, ensuring it aligns with the company’s strategic goals and industry best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into robust data solutions.
Scalability and Performance: Ensure the data platform is scalable and performant, capable of handling large volumes of data efficiently.
Security and Compliance: Design systems with a strong focus on data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Innovation and Optimization: Continuously seek to improve and optimize the data platform by incorporating new technologies and methodologies.
Documentation and Standards: Develop and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices; maintain comprehensive documentation.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least 7 years of experience in data architecture or a related data field, with a proven track record in designing and implementing large-scale data solutions.
Strong proficiency in data modeling, database design, data product design, security, and data warehousing.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with big data and AI technologies.
Understanding of ELT processes and tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work cross-functionally in a team-oriented environment.
