Lead – Environmental Compliance
This is what you will do:
The Environmental Lead will provide environmental support for all operations at the Alexion Athlone manufacturing facility.They will also act as the site SME for all sustainability matters on the Alexion Athlone site. AstraZeneca are passionate about sustainability and their vision to be the BioPharma leaders in this spance, they have set strigent sustainability targets to met the facilities scope 1 & 2 carbon zero goal for 2025 and this role will involve the management of sustainability projects on site to achieve target completion.
You will be responsible for:
- Monitors the Alexion Athlone environmental program to ensure compliance with all applicable licenses, government regulations and company standards and values.
- Compile and submit all regulatory reporting requirements within the specified timeframes
- Act as the site’s Environmental contact for all new product introductions, chemical introductions, and construction activities
- Act as the lead on-site environmental contact for all onsite Environmental Audits (both internal & external)
- Report immediately to the Associate Director EHS & Security any Environmental compliance incidents on site.
- Lead and/or support the investigation of any Environmental incidents /noncompliance events on site.
- Provide DGSA support to the site and act as the environmental lead for onsite DGSA audits.
- Act as the site coordinator for all Alexion Athlone Sustainability projects
- Compile and submit all monthly Environmental metrics to Alexion Global
- Manages / coordinates all Environmental monitoring/sampling on site and analyses and documents all associated results.
- Act as the main point of contact for all on site waste management issues and host monthly calls with the site TWM contractor.
- Develop, maintain on site environmental documentation, and deliver training programs to ensure environment compliance where applicable.
- Builds relationships with key departments to foster support for Environmental programs.
You will need to have:
- A minimum of 5 years' professional experience required in environment, health, and safety programs.
- A minimum of 2-4 years relevant experience in an EPA regulated facility and in a cGMP environment is desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of environment regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of environment compliance reporting.
- Specific experience in hazardous waste management or other professional EHS trainings or certifications a plus.

- Ability to make effective oral presentations and work as part of a team.
- Proficiency in organizing, communication, problem solving, multitasking and collaborating with others.
- The individual in this position will be able to organize his/her own work on a routine basis. The individual must be able to provide updates and tracking on tasks.
- Good communication skills required, both verbal and written.
