Global External Scientific Engagement (ESE) Head Pipeline Beyond Complement

This is what you will do:

EHPis a field-based scientific position responsible for the creation and execution of global scientific engagement strategy for designated programs of Alexion’s pipeline within a designated Therapeutic Area (TA). 

EHP is working closely with Regional MAPs (APAC, EU, LATAM, NA) dedicated to his/her TA to ensure ESE strategies and initiatives cover TA/GPTs/COM global needs.

He/she will closely collaborate with a network of Key External Experts (KEEs), TA ESE Head and GPTs on designated trials, as well ascollaborateon the cross-programscientific engagement needs within the TA. 

EHPwillhave key responsibility toestablishand maintain relationships with a global network of KEEs whowilladviseAlexion´s clinical development strategy and trial executionwithin a TA.

EHP will be part of“BeyondComplenment” that coversTas likeMetabolic, Neuro-Ophtalmo,Endocrinology, Rare Cardiomyopathy, RareOncologyand modalities like cell-therapy and genomic.

EHPwill work very closely withGlobal Clinical Development, GlobalClinicalOperations,CountryOperations,Global Medical Affairs,andallcross-functionalstakeholdersto ensure the successfuldesign andperformance ofAlexion´sclinical trials, from earlyphases of development up to successful confirmatory studies.This includes scientific engagement activities toadviceonprotocoldesign,andenhance trial recruitment and retention.

He/she willalsomaintaina very closecollaboration withTA Head ofESE andLocalMAPs, to ensure proper Scientific Engagementactivities are planned for and drivenatglobal,regionalandcountry level, and regular bi-directional updates and alignment on strategicearly scientific engagementplans fordesignated programs within a TA.

EHPwill report directly to theGlobalESE Head or ESETAHead.

You willbe responsible for:

  • Build and drive the global scientific engagement plan for designated programs within TA. 

  • Establishand manage the relationship with acollaborative networkofKEEs whowilladviceAlexion´s clinical development strategy and trial execution.

  • Define the scientific engagement needs for each programin cross-functional collaboration with Global Project Team (GPT)  members, including:

  • Advisory Boards

  • KOL mapping & profiling

  • Medical Conferencesengagements

  • Scientific Exchange meetings 

  • Expert training

  • ScientificExchange& Medical Intelligence@ Global level

  • Develop andmaintainthe highest scientific and medicalexpertisein the relevant fields and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert & resource in the assigned therapeutic area/indications.

  • Identifyand address relevantinsightsgapsa network of global KEEs

  • Obtain valuable and actionable insights from the field to be shared with internal stakeholders

  • Ensuretimelyand informative scientific/medical exchanges with customers and internal partners,in accordance withcompliance policies and with legal requirements

  • Global R&DClinical TrialsSupport 

  • Support Alexion inoptimizingthe identification of clinical trialsites and investigators.

  • Enhance clinical operations efforts to improve recruitment& retention.

  • Strong collaboration with (but not limited to): 

  • Global Project Team cross-functional members

  • Global Clinical Development&R&D TAs

  • GlobalClinical Operations

  • Country Operations

  • GlobalMedical Affairs teams/ market companies

You will need to have:

  • MDor Pharm D

  • Minimum7years of combined experience inMedicalAffairs,Clinical DevelopmentorKEEs engagement roles

  • Knowledge ofClinical Development,R&DOperations,HealthcaresystemsandMarket access environment  

  • Previousexperience in rare diseases isanadvantage 

  • Willingness to travel (up to30% of time)

  • Fluency in Englishisa must,Spanish preferable,otherrelevant languagesis an advantage
