This is what you will do:

The Global Medical Launch Excellence & Field Execution Lead is responsible for the success of Alexion’s Medical launch excellence and field readiness, reporting directly into the Global TA Head. This highly visible and critical role is responsible for ensuring that the Global Medical strategy and local launch planning and execution is successfully translated into action. This involves close collaboration with Global Medical Affairs (GMA) and Local Medical, Global Marketing & Market Access (GMMA), and other cross-functional colleagues to ensure comprehensive communication and coordination of launch activities, tracking and assessing the impact and insights from local pull through. Additionally, this role will ensure a strong feedback loop between HQ and the field with actionables to inform and influence medical strategy and future launches.

This role requires strong matrix management, influencing skills and collaboration with multiple global, country, and functional stakeholders to deliver on responsibilities focusing on a wide range of core activities from people and process to tools and training.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensures alignment and pull through of global medical strategy in partnership with Global Medical Affairs Leaders (GMALs), Global Medical Directors and Local Medical.

  • Partners with TA Head to ensure comprehensive TA execution.

  • Partners with Local Medical to ensure local launch plan and tactical execution aligned with priorities and brought to action.

  • Ensures Local Medical has relevant materials, training, and tools to execute strategy.

  • Lead on cascading and gathering insights from Local Medical on prioritized publications aligned with global strategy.

  • Cascading, tracking, and obtaining feedback on global medical content

  • Lead TA engagement in launch readiness planning

  • Communicates launch planning progress and impacts to teams and leadership with strategic analysis and partners with Medical Director to develop recommendations to achieve launch readiness.

  • Works with global and country teams to lead standardization and drive excellence in execution of launch activities.

  • Distills lessons learned from each launch including pinpointing impactful deliverables, relevant timing, and best practices to enable effective launches.

  • Stays up to date on local laws and guidelines, codes of practices and Alexion policies relevant to Medical Affairs activity.  Embodies Alexion’s culture – leads by example and works with the highest degree of professionalism and in accordance with the company’s policies and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific (preferred) or business field 

  • Cross-functional experience, working in a multicultural or international environment, with the ability to network and influence as needed.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Exceptional business aptitude, strategic thinking, and creative abilities

  • Ability to prioritize workloads in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and to focus on the business-critical items that need to be addressed first.

  • Relationship builder, demonstrating an ability to listen and respond to a wide variety of personal styles. Adaptability, being sensitive to feedback of stakeholders whilst remaining focused on the goal ahead.

  • Strong communicator and presenter, able to deliver and articulate persuasive and cohesive presentations and points of view. Strong desire to help others succeed with a positive attitude.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

We would prefer for you to have:

  • Previous Medical Director, MSL, MSL Manager, Medical Excellence experience in a rare disease organization

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industry with proven success in either a Medical, Clinical, or Commercial role

  • Prior people or matrix management experience

  • Demonstration of coaching, mentoring, recruiting, developing high performance teams within a large highly matrixed, complex business
