This is what you will do:

The Global Medical Training (GMT) Director is responsible for delivering comprehensive and impactful training to Alexion’s Medical Team worldwide and will report to the Head of Global Medical Training and Field Capabilities. They will collaborate with cross functional stakeholders at a Global and Local level to identify training needs and set the learning and development strategy.

They will develop engaging training programs for a diverse global medical audience adopting ‘learning in the flow of work’ and will evaluate success via a metrics-based approach. Well-designed trainings will equip our external facing teams to deliver an impactful medical narrative to the medical community to achieve the bold ambition.

The Director will lead the TA group, liaise with subject matter experts, manage vendors and collaborate with Global and Local Therapeutic Leaders to produce engaging differentiated learning and development content and activities supporting the overall medical strategy and vision. The Director will also collaborate with Global Medical Leadership as well as other Training Leads to identify and develop skill training to enhance confident, effective and aligned engagements with the medical community to reinforce our position as a leader in rare disease.

You will be responsible for:

Strategic and Hands-On Leadership:

· Partnering closely with the Global/Local leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to align on training priorities and guide the collaborative building of strategic and customized curricula for medical teams based on identified needs and emerging clinical data.

· Guide the localisation of training content and provide focused support during product launches.

· Oversee and improve the learner experience within the LMS, ensuring it supports optimal training delivery and user engagement.

· Provide comprehensive strategic leadership, operating in a matrix model by setting goals and objectives for members of the team

· Understand internal customers and the country audience to deliver trainings that are personalised, comprehensive and ‘on demand’

· Act as a strategic performance consultant to understand business goals and determine whether training is the correct intervention, and if so, how it should be optimally delivered to ensure learning takes place.

· Mentorship and Team Development: Serve as a mentor to team members, including Senior managers/learning partners, interns, promoting professional growth and development.

· Budget and Resource Stewardship: Manage the training budget, aligning financial resources with strategic training initiatives.

· Program Evaluation and Metrics: Oversee the development of metrics to assess training impact, driving continuous program improvement.

Curriculum Development:

· Actively engage in the development and delivery of scientific training initiatives that are aligned to our medical strategy and local market needs.

· Ensuring Foundational training and onboarding is available to new hires in a format that is aligned to differentiated learning and supports a certification process.

· Develop and maintain a knowledge/content management strategy to guarantee the effective onboarding of new staff and the continuous update and relevance of training assets.

· Therapeutic Area Expertise - Develop therapeutic area training curricula - to include disease state, patient journey, therapeutic landscape, and pre-clinical/clinical/real-world evidence data from AstraZeneca - alongside relevant capabilities training to communicate scientific information effectively.

· Learning Experience Innovation: Leverage adult learning principles to deliver effective and meaningful learning experiences, alongside the design of novel training solutions to bolster learner engagement, interactivity using blended learning solutions.

· Training Content Development:

o Direct the work with external providers to produce innovative content and training solutions. Advise internal content creators so that centralized material is developed in time and in a style that is appropriate for training purposes.

o Select, apply and use various authoring tools to create innovative and interactive training content.

· Communication Excellence: Communication with Global and Local collaborators and learners to ensure awareness of currently available and future educational content.

· Collaborate with the other TA Training Leads/Directors and the Head of Medical Excellence/Field Excellence to identify interactive ways to fulfil gaps and synergize solutions to best meet training needs across organization.

· Utilize technology and instructional design to create innovative forms of engaging learners to optimize the training experience and meet the goals of adaptive adult learning principles.

· Collaborative Partnerships: Establish and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring identification of educational gaps and integration of insights into training content. Partners include Global Medical Affairs, Global MSL Excellence, Local Headquarters and Field Medical stakeholders, amongst others.

You will need to have:

· MD, PhD, PharmD or B.A./B.S in scientific study with appropriate experience

· Extensive experience and proven track record in training and project management in the biopharmaceutical industry

· Ability to lead transformation of strategic imperatives and medical direction into training deliverables

· Experience in working within a matrixed organization to deliver strong results

· Thorough understanding of the multiple facets of clinical research, clinical development, medical affairs, market access and outcomes research

· Knowledge and understanding of clinical priorities for different healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacist, researchers and research associates

· Proven history in developing engaging trainings incorporating adult learning principles and re-fresher training follow up which maximize impact

· Ability to develop strong, respectful, professional, collaborative and productive relationships with a spirit and ability to align around vision to drive positive results

· Travel required where appropriate – e.g. pre congress trainings.

We would prefer for you to have:

· Scientific degree of a clinical nature

· Experience in training instructional design and content management

· Medical affairs experience including clinical development and KOL management

· Experience in global preparation and launch readiness
