Global Pricing & Access Lead, Rare Haematology
Location: Barcelona - Spain (3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home).

This role will have a particular focus on Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) and HSCT-TMA indications. This is an opportunity for an experienced market access leader to influence critical launch and lifecycle decisions, navigate complex payer environments, and play a central role in advancing our ambition within Haematology.

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease’sGlobal Value Access and Pricing (GVAP) team is seeking a qualified Director to join a dynamic and growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for Haematology indication, including near-term new product launches and label expansions.
As a key member of the GVAP team, you will help shape and execute global value, access, and pricing strategies for Haematology indications, with a particular focus on the PNH and HSCT-TMA indications and its lifecycle management.
This is a strategic role that requires an understanding of global healthcare and health technology assessment (HTA) systems, competitive insights, and clinical evidence. You will use this knowledge to shape market access, pricing, and reimbursement success for critical product launches and indications.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in global payer, HTA, and reimbursement environments, together with a strong track record of delivering market access, pricing, and reimbursement success within rare diseases and/or Haematology.
You will be responsible for:
Value
Lead and drive the cross-functional development of a clear and differentiated value proposition for PNH and HSCT-TMA, influencing without formal authority and navigating complex organizational environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that evidence-generation plans and real-world evidence (RWE) are effectively incorporated into the value proposition. The aim is to deliver a comprehensive value proposition, reduce payer uncertainty and optimize patient access. This includes securing timely country input on evidence-generation plans in priority target countries.
Support to the Global Marketing and Market Access (GMMA) Commercial team in advancing PNH lifecycle management (LCM) through governance milestones, with a focus on market access potential, evidence requirements,, and target product profile (TPP) requirements.
Access
Lead the development of global market access and pricing strategies, and support implementation in close partnership with country access representatives.
Access pricing and reimbursement (P&R) risks and opportunities for Heamatology, and develop and implement appropriate mitigation actions.
Create and roll out strategic value, access, and pricing communication tools and materials for PNH and HSCT-TMA to support local P&R submissions and negotiations. These may include pricing frameworks, negotiation strategies, and market access toolkits aligned with the enterprise-wide launch framework.
Lead updates to the global PNH reimbursement dossier and the overall cross-functional market access readiness plans for Haematology, in close collaboration with key countries and support functions (HEOR, Medical, and Commercial).
Represent the GVAP perspective and strategy across various cross-functional teams, including the Global Value Sub-Team and Global Launch Team.
Provide strategic updates, guidance and materials to local teams as required.
Lead the monthly Haematology, Nephrology & Transplant payer working group to align global payer strategies, share the latest P&R insights, and promote best practice sharing across countries.
Ensure that the patient perspective is incorporated into market access strategies and recommend approaches that support the patient voice in key payer negotiations.
Pricing
Support the development of the Haematology pricing strategy.
Conduct payer and value assessments to identify market-specific P&R drivers and barriers.
Develop differentiated value propositions and use the findings to inform evidence-generation plans, regulatory strategy, and development decisions.
Partner with the GVAP Expansion Markets team to lead and co-create market-level P&R strategies and support P&R submissions and negotiations in prioritized markets.
Review P&R cases submitted by local markets and support country teams in maintaining product value while enabling local access.
Work closely with country access representatives and, where relevant, the International Shared Markets GVAP team.
Provide strategic input into access and pricing assumptions to support accurate long-term plan (LTP) and mid-term plan (MTP) assumptions.
Monitor and communicate competitor market access and pricing developments.
Communicate effectively with GMMA senior leadership and other key stakeholders, particularly regarding Haematology launches and the PNH lifecycle management P&R strategy.
You will need to have:
Demonstrated leadership and the ability to take initiative and consistently deliver high-quality work in the context of rare diseases evidence, where there is greater uncertainty and competiiton.
The ability to communicate effectively and translate science into compelling payer value story benefits for Alexion leadership and other identified stakeholders, including close collaboration with local market access colleagues and the Commercial Launch Excellence function.
Experience developing evidence-based innovative value solutions, for example through working with local payers in the EU or commercial customers in the US.
A relevant graduate degree, such as a PhD, PharmD, Biomedical Sciences, business, or economics qualification.
Highly specialized rare disease and/or Haematology market access experience.
More than 6 years of relevant drug development and/or commercialization experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry.
Knowledge of the needs and expectations of national and regional payers, insurers, and commercial customers in our strategic markets.
