Internship Program Overview
The primary objective of this internship program is to develop reusable and adaptable R frameworks, such as Shiny apps, Quarto codes, and RMarkdown codes. These frameworks will be designed to effectively explore, visualize, and summarize patient profiles, patient journeys, disease progression, and potential endpoint correlations/causations. This work will support a prospectively designed observational Natural History Study (NHS) aimed at advancing clinical program development. The R open-source community offers well-explored and established examples to address such significant and urgent needs of this program.
Methodology and Justification
The methodology for this role involves utilizing cutting-edge R programming techniques to create dynamic and interactive tools that facilitate comprehensive data analysis and visualization. By leveraging open-source resources, the program ensures cost-effective and innovative solutions tailored to the specific needs of NHS data analysis. The justification for this role lies in the growing demand for data-driven insights in clinical program development. Creating robust R frameworks will enable a deeper understanding of disease progression and patient outcomes, which is crucial for designing effective clinical trials and developing targeted therapies.
Intern Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities
The intern will engage in exploring R open-source codes and receive training in structured clinical trial operations and study-specific objectives. Through this process, the intern will develop appropriate R frameworks to exemplify NHS data, thereby enhancing and expanding the NHS's full capabilities to support clinical programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of clinical research and data science, contributing to real-world healthcare solutions.
