Head of US Market Access Strategy & Marketing
The Head of U.S. Access Strategy & Marketing, leads the Access Strategy and Marketing team responsible for the development and execution of U.S. market access strategies and corresponding marketing materials for Alexion’s portfolio of medicines in the United States. This individual will lead the evolution of the value proposition to U.S. payer and channel customers.
This role is based at Alexion’s Boston headquarters and reports to the Vice President, U.S. Value and Access.
You will be responsible for:
Leading a team responsible for developing the access, strategies and access marketing materials for Alexion’s portfolio of medicines in the United States, for both in-line and pipeline products
Leading the development and alignment process for the U.S. Market Access operating plan
Creating an environment of constant growth for the access strategy and marketing team that maximizes engagement and effectiveness; ensuring that the team is staffed with top talent within the industry
Leading a team to define the strategies to achieve access goals, including how to message, position, and leverage Medical, HEOR, Advocacy & evidence assessments, advocacy groups, and a product's clinical value proposition to compete and secure access for patients
Identifying evidence generation needs based on market access events and coordinating with HEOR/Medical teams to inform the development of value propositions
Leading a team responsible for developing access advocacy strategies across Alexion’s portofolio and engaging with the Patient Advocacy team to execute on the strategies
Working closely with the Global Value Access and Pricing (GVAP) Team to integrate the U.S. Market access perspective into key development programs for pipeline medicines
Working closely with Global to inform the US Market Access team of any upcoming business development or acquisition deals that may be under consideration and impact the US Market Access team’s priorities
Keeping a pulse on upcoming legislative actions that impact patient access to Alexion’s portfolio and determine which will necessitate shaping a cross-functional team to shape a response strategy
Leading a cross-functional team to model and understand the impact of new and upcoming legislative actions and help define Alexion’s response strategy, including coordination with governmet affairs
Effectively motivate team member to lead cross functionally, particularly across Market Access, HEOR, Brand, Government affairs, and Advocacy, to ensure alignment around delivery against access goals at each stage of a products lifecycle
Ensuring effective Account Management and Field Reimbursement training across the portfolio on access marketing materials
Ensuring all cross-functional matrix teams responsible for the execution of U.S. access strategies are operating at a high level
Representing the U.S. market access team on key governance committees
You will need to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area of study
10+ years’ experience in a pharmaceutical marketing role including 5+ years U.S. managed care or related experience
Experience leading a marketing team or comparable team leadership experience
Demonstrated experience developing and leading the implementation of U.S. market access strategies
Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex strategic initiatives
Knowledge of the business models, influence/impact, and decision drivers of U.S. commercial and government payers as well as channel customers (i.e., specialty pharmacy and distribution, home infusion, etc.)
Understanding of reimbursement methodologies utilized by commercial and government payers under the medical and pharmacy benefits
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex business challenges and data-driven recommendations to senior leaders
Clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease states
Experience reviewing marketing materials with medical, legal, and regulatory review committees
