Purpose

The Global Productivity Initiatives Lead shapes and drives Alexion’s enterprise productivity agenda through the Enterprise Productivity Office (EPO). The role aligns cross-functional productivity and transformation initiatives to optimize resources, processes, and capabilities in support of Alexion AstraZeneca Rare Disease’s corporate priorities and ambition.

Key Accountabilities

• Enterprise Productivity Strategy & Governance: Own and evolve the enterprise productivity strategy aligned to corporate and Alexion Leadership Team (ALT) priorities. Secure ALT and stakeholder alignment on scope, outcomes, funding, and resourcing.

• Strategic Enablement: Lead core EPO focus areas: (1) Global Footprint Optimization (2) Technology & Innovation (3) Automation & Insourcing (4) Centralization.

• Initiative Leadership: Identify efficiency opportunities and lead enterprise-critical initiatives managed by EPO in partnership with the business. Support business-led initiatives that require enterprise alignment, a consistent methodology, or acceleration.

• Cross Functional Engagement & Change Enablement: Partner with global and functional leaders to embed productivity into ways of working and business planning. Foster a culture of innovation, smart risk-taking, and experimentation.

• Financial Impact & Reinvestment Enablement: Ensure initiatives deliver tangible financial impact (e.g., cost savings, margin protection, capacity release). Build business cases with defined financial and impact KPIs and track benefits through implementation.

Scope and Interfaces

• Internal stakeholders: Alexion CEO, CFO, SVP HR, Head of IT, and ALT members • External partners: vendors and partners needed to execute productivity initiatives

• Primary customers/users: AstraZeneca enterprise functions

Deliverables

• Shaping enterprise productivity strategy: Partner with Alexion executive leadership to shape and drive a strategy that delivers enterprise productivity across rare disease functions using multiple business levers.

Delivery of assigned EPO initiatives: Deliver EPO initiatives by defining and planning new work, engaging cross-functional teams, and driving on-time milestones. Prioritize initiatives and track benefits vs. baseline (e.g., cost savings, efficiency gains, cycle-time reduction).

• Governance: Lead the EPO SteerCo and other steering/working groups; manage decisions and risks; and deliver executive-ready communications and status reporting.

• Change and adoption outcomes: Partner with HR on change impact assessments, training, communications, and adoption tracking (e.g., completion rates, usage metrics, process compliance) to embed new ways of working.

• Portfolio pipeline support: Maintain the initiative pipeline, prioritization, and quarterly planning updates, recommending improvements to sequencing and resourcing.

• Continuous improvement of EPO ways of working: Continuously improve alignment and impact through templates, dashboards, and delivery playbooks. Capture lessons learned and strengthen predictability, transparency, and delivery efficiency.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in business, life sciences, engineering, data science, or related field; PhD or MS preferred.

• 10+ years’ experience in pharma/biotech or a related industry, leading enterprise-level initiatives with proven cross-functional delivery.

• Experience implementing AI, digital, or data-driven solutions.

• Strong program leadership, vendor management, and cross-functional influence at senior levels; change management and operating model design experience.

• Essential: Experience leading enterprise-wide projects, transformation, or operating model initiatives.

• Proven ability to operate at executive level, influencing prioritization and investment decisions with strong communication skills.

• Strong track record delivering measurable productivity, cost, or efficiency outcomes.

• Enterprise strategy, portfolio, and project management.

• Productivity and operating model design expertise.
