Senior Manager, Accounting (Inventory)

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, is seeking a qualified accountant to join theDublin arm of theGroup Controllersteam. You will own core elements of Global COGS and Inventory reporting under IFRS, partner with Global Operations and Finance, and play a key role in manufacturing accounting, controls, and audit readiness. This is a high-impact role with visibility across Alexion Ireland and theconsolidatedAlexionRareDiseaseUnit (RDU), with opportunities to drive process improvements and digital automation.

This is what you will do:

  • Global COGS & Inventory reporting: Prepare and review month-end and quarter-enddeliverables, financial analysis, and commentary for inventory and COGS under IFRS;ownhalf-year and year-endreporting inputsfor Alexion Ireland and theconsolidatedRDU,ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.

  • Technical accounting & policy: Determineappropriate accountingtreatments for changes in facts and circumstances; track and assess policy changesimpactingCOGS and inventory.

  • Controls & SOX compliance:Operateand enhance the SOX frameworkfor inventory; complete assigned control procedures and reviews for inventory;monitorcontrol design effectiveness,assessingtheimpact ofanyupdates to operations.

  • Oversight ofInternal manufacturing:Deliver monthly variance insights(e.g., PPV, labour, overhead)and present to senior stakeholders, partnering effectively withFP&A peers.

  • Standard cost management:lead annual standard cost updates and revaluation; support ad hoc costing throughout the year.

  • Stakeholder partnership: Collaborate with Group Controllers, FP&A, Global Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams locally and globally; oversee outsourced provider to ensureaccurateandtimelyclose activities.

  • Balance sheet integrity & audits: Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items;own inputs forgroup and statutory audits across IFRS, FRS 102, and US GAAP.

  • Business enablement:Drive continuous improvement for the month-end close, embracing digital automation and AI;assistwith ad hoc financial analysis and queries.

  • Launch readiness:Act as a financial steward fornew product launchesincludingintegration across systems, accounting, and reporting.

  • Ad hoc projects:Oversee ad hoc project execution across business development, systemintegrationsand global risk reviews.

You will need to have:

  • Professionalqualification:ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent).

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification/industry experience.

  • Technical skills: Highproficiencyin Microsoft Excel; strong numeracy and attention to detail.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skillswith proven ability toconstructivelychallengeand critically assess assumptions.

Whatwe would prefer you to have:

  • Manufacturing accounting experience and familiarity with internal manufacturing flows.

  • Standards knowledge: Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Industry exposure: Experience in a multinational pharmaceutical environment.

  • Attributes: Natural curiosity and ability to learn quickly.
