Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Sourcing Manager to lead sourcing strategies for Drug Delivery Devices and External Analytical Testing. This role will focus primarily on design development and commercial supply of combination products, including pre-filled syringes, autoinjectors, multi-dose pens, and associated components, while also managing analytical testing services across the product lifecycle. You will be responsible for strategic sourcing processes, contract negotiations, and providing business support to ensure top-quality service at optimized costs. A critical aspect of this role is establishing and maintaining supplier governance frameworks to ensure performance, compliance, and strategic alignment.

This is what you will do:

Drug Delivery Devices

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for combination products and related components i.e. autoinjectors, pre-filled syringes, multi dose pens, on body devices.
• Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting for design development, industrialization, and commercial supply.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Process Development & Clinical Supply, Quality, Regulatory, Operations) to ensure device strategy aligns with product lifecycle and regulatory requirements.
• Drive cost optimization, risk mitigation, and supply continuity for device programs.
• Manage strategic relationships with key device suppliers, fostering innovation and long-term partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, and other global regulatory standards for combination products.

External Analytical Testing

• Oversee sourcing for analytical testing services supporting process development, clinical supply, and commercial manufacturing.

• Manage supplier performance for GMP and non-GMP testing, including method development and validation.

• Negotiate agreements ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.

Supplier Governance

• Establish and lead supplier governance frameworks, including:

- Business Review Meetings (BRMs) and Executive Steering Committees.

- Performance scorecards and KPIs for quality, delivery, and innovation.

- Risk management plans and escalation protocols.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance value creation and compliance.

• Ensure alignment with Alexion’s Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) principles and global procurement standards

You will be responsible for:

• Influence and direct Alexion’s supply network to implement cost savings and process improvements.

• Lead and support compliance in contracts and develop supplier performance management relationships.

You will need to have:

• Demonstrated leadership in sourcing, procurement, negotiation, and contracting.

• Experienced in contract negotiations, business issue resolution, and supplier relationship management.

• Ability to influence stakeholders both internally and externally.

• Experience working with cross-functional global teams.

• Proven project management skills to handle multiple tasks.

• Excellent understanding of commercial business processes, innovation, and continuous improvement methods.

• Detail-oriented with exceptional communication and executive-level influencing skills.

• Knowledge of Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory requirements in Biotech/Pharma.

• Fluency in English.

We would prefer for you to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, Business, Procurement or equivalent with relevant external contract manufacturing experience.

• Ideally 8 – 10 years’ experience in a Multi-National GMP sourcing & external manufacturing environment.

• Proven track record in drug delivery devices sourcing and supplier management.

• Strong understanding of combination product regulations and device development lifecycle.

• Experience with analytical testing services and GMP compliance.
