About Alexion/AstraZeneca
Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, is dedicated to transforming care for people living with rare conditions. We partner with clinicians and health systems to enable appropriate access, advance standards of care and improve outcomes for patients and families. This role sits within our Neurology franchise and focuses on shaping access, adoption and clinical practice across Queensland through strategic account management and compliant scientific engagement.
What you’ll do
- Lead the regional account strategy for Queensland, translating national launch plans into focused account plans with clear objectives and milestones.
- Build durable relationships across the neurology ecosystem (neurologists, neuroimmunologists, nurses, pharmacists, clinic managers, hospital administrators).
- Map and prioritise targets using local epidemiology, patient flow and adopter segmentation; plan calls and manage objections.
- Orchestrate compliant peer‑to‑peer education and regional events; brief speakers and enable evidence‑based scientific exchange.
- Drive cross‑functional pull‑through with Medical, Market Access, Patient Support and Commercial Excellence to remove barriers and secure early wins.
- Execute consistent omnichannel engagement (in‑person, virtual, digital) with timely follow‑up; maintain operational excellence (CRM, documentation, contracting, budget, governance incl. Medicines Australia Code).
Essential for the role
- 5+ years’ Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical sales or Key Account Management in specialty care, including launches in hospital/clinic settings.
- Proven track record meeting/exceeding sales targets and launch KPIs; strong influencing and negotiation across multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Scientific literacy in neurology or adjacent specialties; ability to communicate clinical evidence, MoA, outcomes and differentiation compliantly.
- Demonstrated excellence in account planning, adopter segmentation and data‑driven decision making.
- Strong organisation, communication and collaboration; proactive, resilient self‑starter in fast‑paced, competitive environments.
- Familiarity with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and field compliance; bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (or relevant industry experience) and a valid driver’s licence.
Desirable for the role
- Neurology experience (e.g., neuromuscular, neuroimmunology, MS, epilepsy, movement disorders, paediatric neurology) or adjacent specialties; pharmaceutical preferred, medical devices considered.
- Experience with infused/injected therapies, infusion clinic workflows, hospital formularies, market access pull‑through and specialty pharmacy processes.
- Competence in omnichannel engagement and post‑launch analytics to inform customer planning and account optimisation.
Location: Queensland‑based permanent role; routine regional travel to priority accounts and society meetings.
