The Director, Development Operations Global Study Support is a key member of the Development Operations Leadership Team, providing quality-focused operational excellence leadership to all functions within Development Operations. This role involves input and expertise to functional strategy, and decision-making related to process management and inspection readiness. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining global standards to improve consistency and alignment across Alexion study teams through developing, deploying, and maintaining cross-enterprise tools and ways of working. Additionally, you will develop strategies to support Dev Ops in transitioning from legacy models to the Alexion Internal Model (AIM) and beyond.

Accountabilities

  • Driving the standardization of process, tools & ways of working across Development Operations in support of our organizational evolution

  • Leading cross-functional forums to support sharing of lessons learned and best practices with the aim of achieving continuous process improvement across the Development Operations function

  • Acting as the Process owner for one or more critical Development Operations processes ensuring they remain current and reflective of our evolving ways of working and regulatory requirements

  • Collaborating with functional leaders to develop and implement strategy for operational effectiveness

  • Supporting Alexion integration activities, including bridge-building efforts, to support the ongoing AstraZeneca integration

  • Reinforcing a quality approach across Development Operations & supporting inspection readiness efforts within functions, may participate in quality audits as the need arises

  • Participating in and/or leading strategic departmental initiatives

Essential Skills/Experience

  • 10 years clinical operations experience, 5 of which in a leading role accountable for the planning and execution of global clinical trials

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the fields related to clinical practice/health care, life sciences or drug development

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Line management experience would be an asset

  • PMP certification desirable
