As the Lead HRBP for Alexion, RDU Canada, you will be a strategic partner to both the Commercial and R&D business areas, aligning with Alexion and AstraZeneca’s long-term objectives. This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence in Rewards and Benefits, Employee Relations, and People Services for our Canada-based operations. Through collaborative leadership, you will drive a comprehensive people strategy that delivers high performance, engagement, and business growth. Accountabilities:
Strategic HR Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the Commercial and R&D Hub, partnering with General Managers, VPs, and business heads to develop, implement, and deliver a people strategy that enables the organization to achieve its goals and fulfill its ambitions.
Talent Management Leadership: Lead and implement the full talent management cycle, encompassing talent acquisition, onboarding, high-potential identification, robust performance and development processes, succession planning, and the creation of meaningful retention and engagement strategies to build a strong internal talent pipeline and support career growth.
Collaborative Engagement: Partner optimally with Centres of Excellence (COEs) and the AZ HRD to guarantee delivery of high-quality services, ensuring alignment with both Alexion and AZ standards and encouraging an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Legal and Compliance Stewardship: Represent Alexion as the HR legal entity contact for Canada, working proactively with internal and external counsel to guarantee adherence with local regulatory requirements, prepare for audits, and handle relationships with relevant labour authorities.
Leadership Coaching and Organizational Development: Coach, mentor, challenge, and support senior business leaders in applying HR policies and practices, providing authoritative advice on complex people issues to minimize organizational risk and financial exposure.
Project and Change Management: Lead and deliver multidisciplinary HR projects spanning talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, and organizational change, driving measurable improvements and transformation across the business.
Strategic Workforce Planning: Lead workforce planning activities for Alexion RDU, ensuring talent and organizational resources are positioned to support future growth and evolving business needs.
Employee Relations Consultation: Partner closely with the local Employee Relations COE and HR Services, providing actionable consultation on employee relations issues and drawing on solid knowledge of relevant principles, practices, and programs to maintain a positive work environment.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Relevant Post-Secondary Degree
Experience working in sophisticated global multi-national organisations and matrixed structures
Track record of proven business benefits/improvement delivered
Demonstrate experience of handling one or more sophisticated HR projects through a complete project life-cycle
A collaborative style and track record of building strong working relationships and working with different personality types
Proven experience in strategic business partnering with senior leaders to drive organizational objectives and deliver impactful people solutions across sophisticated business environments
Technical HR knowledge/skills associated with one or more of the following subject areas: Talent Acquisition, Performance & Reward, ER, L&D, Organizational development
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Working knowledge of French
CHRP designation in Canada
