Operational Excellence Distribution Senior Specialist

Join our Global Distribution & Logistics team within Supply Chain Operations, where we lead and implement end-to-end logistics processes for the shipment of products from our manufacturing sites to their final destinations.

Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and execute Finished Packed Product shipments across our US distribution network.
  • Manage operational logistics to develop, update, or maintain sustainable processes ensuring on-time delivery across our US Network.
  • Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, standards, and associated training, managing CAPAs, Change Controls, Deviations, and Corrective Action plans in the Alexion Quality Management System.
  • Support the creation and completion of quality records—including deviations, complaints, and change controls—in our Quality Management System.
  • Identify process improvements and manage projects for continuous improvement related to Global Distribution & Logistics and Supply Chain.
  • Coordinate the introduction of new distribution trade lanes for new and existing products.
  • Create GMP and non-GMP documentation including SOPs and shipping documentation for the US Distribution function.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear processes are in place to execute all aspects of the role.
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports as required by the department.
  • Manage and maintain Robotic Process Automations (RPAs) for departmental processes.
  • Monitor Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) flows between Alexion and its partners to ensure seamless data exchange and timely issue resolution.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions with an emphasis on identifying opportunities to increase efficiencies.
  • Provide backup and cover for the team during periods of absence or vacation.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • At least 5 years’ working in Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Logistics or Operations role within an international environment.
  • Previous experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, particularly SAP experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of GMP/GDP standards.
  • Strong problem-solving experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Fluency in English both written and oral is essential; fluency in other languages is desirable.
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, or related field preferable.
  • Six sigma certifications preferred.
  • Understand Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations for US Distribution of pharmaceutical products.
