【Alexion Japan】Associate Director, Data Science Lead
This is what you will do:
Data Science Lead is an expert role in clinical research to provide scientific expertise in evidence generation so that key research questions are sufficiently addressed, and all research are planned and delivered in a way that represent cutting-edge science, methodologies, technologies, processes, and solutions in the Pharmaceutical industry.
Data Science Lead collaborates with Health Economics & Outcome Research Lead (HEOR Lead) to ensure an appropriateness of Alexion conducting database researches and to deliver meaningful evidence to facilitate future clinical practice and relevant policy in each therapeutic area
Data Science Lead plays a key role of data analytics by proposing suitable database, and effective analytical methods and providing interpretation of results for all Alexion employees.
Data Science Lead reports to Director of Evidence and Observational Research.
Data Science Lead collaborates and contributes to all Alexion conducting evidence generation, database research with regard to planning and data analytics
Data Science Lead assesses study design/target population/data source/data handling/analytical method and give suitable inputs from an epidemiological point of view
Data Science Lead oversees evidence generation related venders (timeline management, quality of outputs, resource, & budget)
Data Science Lead conducts survey & assess a necessary information for database and recommend database that fits for research/analytical purpose
You will be responsible for:
Lead/co-leading of observational/database research and data analytics
To make study design, endpoints, analysis, and interpretation of study result from an Epidemiological point of view and lead observational/database research in Alexion.
To input analysis method, data handling, and interpretation to other divisions
Assessment of study design/target population/data source/data handling/analytical method and give suitable inputs from an epidemiological point of view
To review plans of observational/database research and support for necessary documentations (study design concept, clinical study protocol, statistical analysis plan, etc.)
To learn innovative methodology and challenge to implement those to our studies/researches
Oversight of venders (timeline management, quality of outputs, resource, & budget)
To oversee vender performances to achieve responsible studies effectively
To give feedbacks & get feedbacks from venders for constructing a good relationship with venders
To find efficient ways for multiple tasks(e.g. make standard documents, and propose the reuse of programs)
Survey & assess the necessary information for database and recommend database that fits for research/analytical purpose
To survey databases that Alexion is/will be able to access for using our research
To assess characteristics of database and give advice of database that fit for purposes
To communicate with database providers and exchange our requirements
You will need to have:
Advanced degree: PhD or Master degree in public health or equivalent (individuals holding MD/biological/pharmaceutical science degree may be acceptable, but should have had the sufficient experience specialized in clinical development/epidemiological research ). MD degree is desirable on top of the public health
5-10 years of relevant experience in a Pharmaceutical company
Design, analysis, interpret and publish researches for Data Science /Epidemiology /clinical
Planning, managing, and/or leading group of individuals responsible for conducting clinical /epidemiologic research, analysis of data, reading of the data for efficacy, safety, clinical effectiveness and epidemiological assessments (acceptable even if the leadership is primarily focused on the scientific features)
Reviewing, assessing and using real-world data for the research purposes to address clinical/research questions
Networking, integrating and using EMR (electronic medical records) /HER (electronic health record) data for the clinical /epidemiological research
Using and applying bioinformatics methodologies to analyze medical big data /database /scientific research
Ability to apply appropriate study design & analytical methods to observational /Epidemiological /pragmatic interventional studies to combine business and scientific agenda
Ability to lead the interpretation of the scientific data, the translation to the appropriate messaging and drafting manuscript of relevant scientific publications
Ability to take a leadership in analyzing medical evidence gap, spotting opportunities /requirements for evidence generation and integrate them into a clear evidence plan /option in the cross-functional team
Experience of assessing scientific feasibility in using /integrating databases for the research purposes
Fundamental project management capabilities in planning, initiating and controlling the projects, and applying the tools/frameworks/concepts to drive the effectiveness/performance of project teams
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective leadership, coaching and collaborations
Ability to collaborate with medical publications agencies, to plan, write and develop abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, slide decks and content for scientific and educational programs
Demonstrated ability to work independently
We would prefer for you to have:
Background or prior experience in neurology, hematology, nephrology, immunology, metabolic and/or rare diseases
Experience in strategic evidence generation planning including database research and publication planning, and related tactical planning and implementation
Experience with evidence generation and publication management software (e.g., Datavision/iEnvision)
Ability to apply health technology assessments to make clear drug characteristics
Ability to lead and facilitate the scientific discussions at the global meetings
Ability to establish network /relations with experts in the field of Epidemiology, public health and clinical research both in Japan and overseas
