Introduction to role

TheRegional Medical Advisor PipelineDirector(RMAP),is a vital part of Global DRS, serving as a field-based scientific resource responsible for the external scientific engagement (ESE) strategy for designated programs within a Therapeutic Area (TA) in their region,as well ascollaborateon the cross-program scientific engagement needs for the TA.

Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, the RMAP will work on designated trials and cross-program scientific engagement needs. The RMAP willestablishand maintain relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs) within a specific region to advise on Alexion’s clinical development strategy and trial execution within a TA.

Reporting directly to the Global/TA Head of External Scientific Engagement, the RMAP will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful performance of clinical trials, supporting activities such as early insight collection, guiding feasibility, and enhancing trial recruitment and retention.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Regional ESEStrategy

  • Primary responsible for theoverallscientific engagement (ESE) strategy within a Therapeutic Area (TA) in their region.

  • KEE Partnerships

  • Establishinglong-termpartnershipswith Key Experts.

  • Clinical Trial Support 

  • Informidentification of potential sites and investigators for clinical trials.

  • Drive scientificengagementinitiatives toenhancerecruitment and retention.

  • ScientificExchange

  • Develop andmaintainthe highest scientific and medicaland scientificexpertisein the relevant fields and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert & resource in the assigned therapeutic area.

  • Lead & implement relevant local initiatives withkey expertstosupportDRSobjectivesorsuccessfulstudy implementation inalignmentwithGlobal Program Teams,COMand Country Medical Affairs colleagues.

  • Identifyand address relevant educational gaps and relay those to GlobalClinical Development.

  • Ensuretimelyand informative scientific/medical exchanges withtrialistsand internal partners,in accordance withcompliance policiesand withlegal requirements.

  • Scientific DevelopmentIntelligence 

  • Developin-depthknowledge of the assigned therapeutic areasandpipelineassets.

  • Gather andeffectivelyshare actionable insights from the field with relevant stakeholders.

  • Team efficiency

  • Leads andoptimizesESE processes end‑to‑end,identifyinggaps, standardizing best practices, and driving measurable efficiency gains across teams.

  • Proactivelyscopes,prioritizes, and steers non‑rMAPinitiatives with cross‑functional stakeholders, balancing portfolio needs and ensuring strategic impact and adoption.

  • Compliance 

  • Staycurrent oflocal laws and guidelines, codes of practices and Alexion policies relevant to Clinical Development and Medical Affairsactivities.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree inhealthsciences

  • Minimum7years of combined Medical Affairs,ClinicalDevelopmentand/or relevantclinical experience.

  • Experience and skills inexperts'engagement and leading Advisory Boards

  • Understanding of the healthcare landscape

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of time

  • Fluency in English,bothwritten and spoken

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Advanced degrees (MD, PharmD, or PhD) in natural sciences.

  • Demonstrated patient-centric approach.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to build networks and manage complex projects.

  • Independent, proactive work style with a team-oriented mindset.

  • Adaptability and a positive outlook in challenging scenarios

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $203,709.60 - 305,564.40 USD . Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
